Installing New Recessed Lighting
Choosing the Correct Recessed Lighting for Your Home
Many people want to install recessed hi-hats as part of their home improvement project. As this is often done during a room renovation, many homeowners let the contractor, or the electrician, select their lights. When electricity was inexpensive, this was fine. With today’s ever-rising energy costs this can be a costly mistake.
At Illuminations we only carry the finest quality American-made recessed lighting. Many reasons to purchase better quality recessed lighting include:
- Significant Energy Savings
- Exclusive 5 year warranty
- Longer bulb life
- No heat under the lights
- Better light quality
- Better light control
- Better appearance
- Non-yellowing alum. trim
Our energy efficient 12-volt low voltage recessed lighting will cut down your electrical cost by 70 percent. Our low voltage hi-hats use 50-watt bulbs that give off better light than 120-watt incandescent bulbs. In a typical kitchen, the homeowner will save approximately $60 per year per hi-hat, or $325 over the life of each bulb.
Exclusive 5-Year Warranty
Our recessed lights are the finest American-made lights available. We offer a 5-year warranty on both the transformer and the European socket. If for any reason you need replace the transformer, it is conveniently accessible from under the light unit. Other hi-hats that are installed require that a large hole be cut in order to gain access to the transformer, as well as the additional expense to repair the ceiling.
Longer Bulb Life
At Illuminations we use the finest European 12-volt low voltage bulbs. Combined with our American-made transformers, they will last for an average of 14,000 hours, compared to 1,000 to 2,000 hours for incandescent bulbs. In addition, they will give a more even disbursement of light on the floor or wall.
No Heat under the Lights
Many homeowners object to the heat generated by most hi-hats. Our hi-hats give off virtually no heat and provide a much brighter light.
Better Light Quality
Many hi-hats tend to give off a dull yellow light. Our European bulbs emit a constant white color for the life of the bulb with less glare than standard bulbs. We can also supply a frosted lens to further soften the light.
Our 12-volt European bulbs allow five different beam angles to give you better control of your light on any ceiling regardless of the height.
Our American-made recessed lights are available in various sizes, up to 4” wide, providing you with a clean crisp light. In addition, we use non-yellowing aluminum trims.
